35. Собаки с древнейших времен участвуют в формировании сообщества организмов, живущих в наших домах. Жан-Бернар Юше, энтомолог, ответственный за сохранность мумий в парижском Музее Человека, страж их посмертной жизни, недавно вскрыл собачью мумию из древнеегипетского поселения Эль-Дейр (недалеко от Каира в дельте Нила; существовало с 332 по 30 г. до н.э.). В желудке собаки нашлись финики и косточки от них, что указывает на то, что животное питалось плодами, доступными в поселении. Уши собаки были покрыты бурыми собачьими клещами (Rhipicephalus sanguineus); сейчас этот паразитический вид вслед за собаками распространился по всему миру.
