Судя по всему, в том, как жил, Алеша по-прежнему не видит ничего неправильного. Так же, как взял с собою свою кротость из отчего дома в дом купца, собирается он с той же кротостью войти в дальнейшее – то есть, как он надеется, в жизнь вечную.

Чему же он удивлялся и удивился?
В переводе Брауна, на который мы опираемся здесь, вроде бы говорится, что Алеша, удивленный чем-то, затем ошарашен; то есть он чем-то ошарашен в своем непреходящем изумлении [89]. Отзвук того же есть и в других переводах.
